Armed forces terminology?

If you have multiple members of the Army, you can refer to them as soldiers. If you have multiple members of the Navy, you can refer to them as sailors. But what if you have multiple members of the Army and multiple members of the Navy? How do you refer to them collectively? Combatants? Military members? Do you have to say soldiers AND sailors? That's a mouthful. Especially when you add in airmen and marines.
