Treating carpet for fleas what to do with my bird?

Hi, my family is treating our carpets to kill fleas soon, and I told them to wait until I know what to do about my bird. My bird is a Sun Conure and I take him out a lot. I would like him to be able to roam our house (toilet seat cover down, windows closed etc.) but we have one problem. Our dog is a Shetland Sheepdog and she has a lot of fleas. We also have 2 other dogs but they are outside dogs for the most part. How do we treat our carpet without hurting my Sun Conure? What should we use? Thanks in advance :)
