Professor Layton for Nintendo dsi?

Ive recently bought the Nintendo dsi. I have Professor Layton which works fine on my ds lite however it does not work on my dsi. When i put in the game an error message comes up: An error has occurred. Press and hold the power on to turn the system off. Please refer to the manual. So i looked up the manual and it said to ring Customer Service which i did and I just could not get through. I think it might be an American copy but i don't know if that makes a difference. Can anybody help?
