HOw to liven up and make my writing better?

I'll get to the point, I'm not the best writer. But i'm in English Honors for some reason so i really need to make my writing better than before. I really need to liven it up and add voice to it. Our SOLS( Standardized tests) are in one week and there's a writing portion. Chances are thier going to give us a boring topic. Last year's was Is TV educational or not? I know, not very intresting. Anyways i want to make my writing more intresting so i can get a good score on it.
