How do I make these fabric blossoms?{link}?

These are made of fabric called yo-yos. They're a circle of fabric cut approximately twice the size of the finished yo-yo. You run a gathering stitch around the outer edge, about 1/4 inch from the cut edge of the circle, then pull it together and fasten it off. Shape the fabric with your fingers. The necklace shown has beads embroidered onto the center. The yo-yos are tacked together with small stitches where they meet.
